Okay, it seems as though some of the information within our systems is a bit outdated. I have located some more recent information with regards to your inquiry and I apologize for some of the previous misinformation. The following is information that is much more current: Canada Post Acceptance Effective immediately, contract customers must now ship firearms by Expedited Parcel with Proof of Age with Signature option in order to meet airline regulations that restrict shipments of freight and/or mail of unaccompanied firearms in air cargo. Non-contract customers are required to use Regular Parcel with the Signature option. Until recently, the practice for shipping firearms was through Priority Courier with signature. However, because Priority Courier is shipped by air, Canada Post relies on airlines to load and secure items in their cargo holds. By using Expedited Parcel or Regular Parcel, permissible handguns will now be shipped by ground to locations within Canada. This allows Canadians in communities without access to licensed firearm carriers to purchase firearms and receive them. There is NO ammunition in the firearm or in the package. Bullets, cartridges and other ammunition are dangerous goods and cannot be mailed. These items come under Class 1, Explosives, of the Canadian Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act. The firearm cannot be used if the package is broken into by an unauthorized person. This requirement can be met in one of two ways: EITHER 1. by securing the firearm with a secure locking mechanism such as a trigger lock (and sending the key to the lock in a separate mail item); OR 2. by rendering the firearm unable to fire by, for example, removing the firing pin (and sending the pin in a separate mail item). Alternative ways to accomplish (1) and (2) can be provided by the staff at the Canadian Firearms Centre. A customer wanting further details should contact the Centre at 1-800-731-4000 or log onto their website at: http://www.cfc-ccaf.gc.ca CANADA POST SHIPPING REGULATIONS FOR FIREARMS FREE RE LISTING OF UNSOLD ITEMS UP TO 9 TIMES !!!
